The School Selection Portal would be opened by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for both BECE 2021 School and Private Candidates to enable them to select their schools online for the 2022 placement. The exercise will start from 20th December 2021 to 2nd January 2022.

In order for this exercise to be undertaken quickly and efficiently, Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education are requested to form teams of IT Teachers/Data Entry Officers to support the

Examination Coordinators do the entries of the candidates’ choices. This will help avoid errors in the
entries from the schools.

By this, Regional Directors are kindly requested to communicate the information to the Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to ensure successful completion of the exercise.

ABOUT West African Examinations Council

The West African Examinations Council, a non-profit-making organization, with its headquarters in Accra, Ghana, was established in 1952 after the Governments of Ghana (then Gold Coast), Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia enacted the West African Examinations Council Ordinances in 1951.

Liberia became the fifth member of the Council in 1974. The enactment of the Ordinances was based on the Jeffrey Report, which strongly supported the proposal for the setting up of a regional examining board to harmonize and standardize pre-university assessment procedures in then British West Africa.
